AWANA is a vital part of our Children’s Ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
WHAT IS AWANA?
AWANA is an international program that partners with parents to help children become more spiritually devoted to God, to His Word, and become more involved in the local church. The word Awana stands for:
Approved
Workmen
Are
Not
Ashamed
and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
The word of God is learned by memorizing scripture and is understood through fun activities, games, acts of service, and missions.
A typical evening at Awana includes Counsel Time – where Biblical truths are taught, Handbook Time – a time of memorizing and reciting, and Game Time – where team work and sportsmanship is taught and put into practice. Clubbers earn awards as they memorize the word of God through various handbook levels. Emmanuel participates in many Awana regional activities including Sparks-A-Rama, the Awana Games, and Bible Quizzing.
